2008.05.25. - On the Road Again

No cars, only "wheelers" and "walkers" - we liked our bike / skate tour so much the weekend before, we decided to do it again - this time in the Valley of the creek called Aar, blocked from cars from Taunusstein to Limburg, 50 km long.

The first part of the route (ca. 10km one way) which we covered with the kids, cut right through the woods offering less number of spectacular scenes than the other road along the Rhine.

Still it had its own atmosphere - as you can judge by spotting the two young ladies Ann Marie and Katharina on Ingo's shoulders!

And enough Booths selling grilled food and refreshments for every participant.

The second part of our trip had a bit of a surprise for us.

On the way back to our starting point, Taunusstein the rain came pouring down on us.

While the kids loved it getting soaked, the grown-ups looked a bit more tensed due to possible colds to follow.

Fortunately, it was very warm and the way back meant a little harder exercise and some extra body heat due to the elevation we had to overcome.

By the time we got back to where we started the children became overheated enough to visit the local Italian Ice-cream shop!
Norbert and I covered the distance on inline-skates again. And liked it so much that we started to discuss the possibility of a longer skating tour without the kids some time in the future.
Maybe along the Danube, from Passau to Vienna?
