We were all looking forward to the 23rd very much - the day we went canoing with friends on the River Lahn.Kelly & Dirk organized the whole trip of about 12 kms paddling between Aumenau and Runkel.
We rented 3 boats - Norbert took one with Corvin and Daniel,
Dirk was coaching Alena and Julia,
and I assisted Kelly and Ann Marie.
The kids were somehow in a racing mode and did not stop unless they were either hungry for a snack or
had to wait for the water gates to open which were there to overcome the natural differences in the water level of the river.
We all made it back easily and rounded up a beautiful day with a BBQ and some fun with Wii's Guitar Hero.Then we exchanged Julia with Corvin for sleepover purposes and headed off home.
Norbert was absolutely sure that Daniel's Raingutter Regatta - a traditional race of the Boy Scouts with self-made sailing boat models - is the next day so Daniel finished off the last bits of decoration with Julia's and Annie's help late at night the other day.
By Saturday, the boat looked great - too early as we found out. The Regatta is next week.
Never mind, the kids were desperate to stick to the "water theme" and watered the flowers of the garden - and each other.
They also built a very comprehensive "Disneyland" in front of our doors! Who needs Paris or Orlando after all?.
