2009.08. - Annie goes to Real School

The school bag and cone got filled up, the dress was picked out, the invitation sent - Annie's first day of school finally arrived.

And so did Kelly to make this day even more special.

With Sushi, we introduced to Kelly what she has never tried before.

But this favour was no match to the gift she prepared for Annie.

For two years she has been working on a patchwork-quilt - pillow and bed cover - using butterfly patterns with beautiful colors.

It doesn't happen all the time that we envy our children when they receive presents.
Now we truly envied Annie.

It seems that she got very lucky. While J & D started out in classes with about 30 kids, Annie's SeeStar class has only 18 children and a very nice young but experienced teacher whose Grandma was also Hungarian.

Annie found the learning pace in the first week compared to what she was used to in Carl Schurz very very slow.

Her enthusiasm to be a school kid and take on some "real studying" was so huge that she completed the first 5-6 pages in her Math and German book on her own initiative at home on the first afternoon. When I advised her otherwise, warning her that she will be bored in school while the other kids work on those tasks with the teacher, she secretly turned 20 pages forward and started to work on new tasks, hoping I would not check the middle of the book.

She really likes the Day Care after school where she can play on the schoolyard and playground or (theoratically so far) do homework, with other school kids from grade 1 to 4. She is especially attracted to older kids - boys and girls, including Daniel's 9-10 year old classmates.

All in all - she settled in very quickly and easily.

Let's hope that comfort, ambition and the thrill of learning in school do not leave her for the next 12 years until Graduation where she might wear something like THIS:
