2009.08. - Home play

Summer was just not ready to leave us even though we were back in Germany.
And so I started to combine the necessary with pleasure by taking the kids on a bike ride while I was running.

It seems that we set a trend. After a week I saw three other Moms jogging with their kid(s) cycling next to them.

Soon after our return from Austria, we had the opportunity to host some of our friends. Anna & Lorant stopped on their route from Hong Kong - Hungary - then to Holland for one night. Marcel & Hanna did not hesitate too long to get on with some games.
We also introduced them to Erika & Bob who kindly split their time up between socializing & trying to set up our new satellite receiver. Their daughter, another Julcsi played along happily with the other kids and Cindy, the dog.

A week later we got to see Bernardo and his family. They came all the way from Holland just to share Daniel's birthday with us.

Part of it was visiting the Roman fortification in Saalburg again.

Daniel had no problem recruiting new soldiers for his army.

Julia and Annie joined him in no time - for a short time.

Considering the size of the Empire, recruitment of new forces to keep territories obey the rule was critical.

We got to see already 2 of the fortifications along the border line - Saalburg here in Germany and Carnuntum in Austria.
There are actually many to visit: Aquincum in Budapest, Vindobona by Vienna but there are other sites in Mainz, Köln and even in Strasbourg where we are heading next weekend.

The kids could also hardly wait to see some of their friends.

Daniel pursued all kinds of sport activity with Sebastian, after they tried to make fire with Daniel's birthday acquisition - a flintstone.

Annie invited over Daria to play.
They worked hard to find out for sure which Lego princesses can swim and float and which go under.

Being "Up" was also the theme of the new Disney film which we went to watch at the Movie Theater.

Tina, Julia's classmate stayed for the whole weekend with us.

They also found the time to set up a Horror Parcour.

They have been working on it for hours before we were allowed to go through it one by one - blindfolded.

They used strings for us to follow with signals attached to it - like a piece of paper meant "bend down and proceed on the other side of the string", a pencil meant "make a big step over something which is lying in your way".

They even squeezed in a visit to the Cinema before time came to say good-bye.

Daniel on the other hand had to deal with a huge dilemma.
How to split the time between play and work.

He met Fredi, his classmates several afternoons. But apart from free play, they also had to complete their presentation on "The Planet Mars" for Social Science at School.

They realized pretty soon, the faster they do their research and the better they present it to me, the sooner I let them do other things.
At the end we were all very pleased with the result.

Even the teacher at school !
