2008.07.06. - Germany -> Austria -> Hungary

  • Kids collected from summer camps - check
  • Kiwi and Sky placed with Denise for the time of our vacation - check
  • Bags packed - check
  • Car loaded - check

Hey guys, are we ready to go?

Yes, except for empty car batteries (easily overcome by jumper cable after the first shocking moments especially if the same car did this to you exactly one year ago) and some important things we managed to forget to pack but remembered when it was already too late (:).

The ride was not a particularly easy one either due to some major traffic jams our navigation system didn't manage to warn us about.

But we did arrive in Austria and the kids were warmly welcome by Omi and Opa.

They had a special gift for them which they brought back from their trip to China - an original dress / outfit for each. From the tag attached I found out that the difference in body height between our children and those in China seemed to be a minimum of 3 to 4 years!

I guess because of the hot conditions of the day the children decided to practice their martial art skills in the garden on the trampoline wearing their swimming suits (and being sprayed on by a water hose) rather than the fine Chinese outfit.

They did not have much time to train since we had a wedding to attend the very next day in Hungary (after having been through yet another 14km long traffic jam). Judit and Robert sealed their commitments officially and we were honored to be one of their guests in Gyor.

The kids had just enough time for a picture with the newly weds before they joined the other kids to play games and exploit the unusual privileges of a great feast and the lack of supervision by grown-ups.

Daniel did manage to carry this to such an extent that by the time they brought out the 3 story high wedding cake, his upset and very full stomach did not allow him to have even one single piece of it. (:( It wouldn't be fair not to mention that he did have already 5 to 6 pieces of Nagyi's irresistible sour cherry strudel just before the wedding.

He still claimed to have nice memories of the day one day later due to some of the marzipan roses saved for him.
