2008.12./2. - Presents - I mean Christmas & Family

Most of the last 31 days of 2008 we spent quite normally.

e.g. by learning how to bind shoelaces.

Or just by sitting on the outer edge of the cage.

But as December slowly passed, we got into Xmas mood ...

... by following local school traditions each kid prepared her/his own "shoe box" present (packed with treats and little toys volunterily given up for donation) for the Red Cross to transport it to another child living under less favorable conditions.

This time Julia and Daniel were so busy selling cookies or other self-made gift items at their school's Xmas Market, it was only Annie who could enjoy the atmosphere without any further obligations.

As soon as school was out and we said our good-byes to Kiwi and Sky, leaving them again with Denise - we headed "down" to Austria.

Having celebrated Xmas in Germany already, we had no trouble to decorate the table, or the Xmas tree!
Especially with Omi's and Opa's guidance.

Presents quickly changed hands.

Daniel retrieved to build up his new Star Wars Lego vehicles within record time.
Julia started to read her new book at record speed.
And Annie tested her newly acquired High School Musical Dance Mat.

On the 24th, before we actually settled down for presents and dinner, we quickly drove to the airport to welcome my brother from Hungary and see him off to Australia. I couldn't miss this opportunity after more than 10 years of not seeing each other.

It was funny to finally introduce the kids to their uncle. By the way, they were almost adequatly dressed for a trip to down under. Too bad we couldn't make it this time. But we sent our little presents to little Joe, Alex and Margareth...

... and instead of Australia stayed in Austria for a fabulous Christmas dinner to gather some energy for our activities in the following days.

The days were mostly spent on the ice ....

And the evenings for example in the Vienna Theater - this time seeing Hensel & Gretel

Then it was time to take the Xmas Spririt and move on to Hungary to celebrate a third time Xmas and start the New Year.
