2008.03.29. - Sky and Kiwi

"Mom! Dad! When can WE have a dog?"
"A cat would be fine too!"
"Or maybe bunnies?"
"Hamsters?"
"Fish?"
The kids have been nagging us for a long time. Our answer was always a definite NO, for many (to us) sensible reasons.

Well, everybody gets lucky one day. After a week of preparation and a short presentation by them and a trip together to the pet shop last weekend - we can now proudly present our two new family members:
KIWI and SKY - I think you will get the idea which one is which (:)

The kids are very happy and keen to take good care of them. The budges need clean sand, fresh seeds and water and different kinds of fruit and veggies every day.

These little winged feathered balls are considered to be charming, intelligent and curious creatures. They stem from Australia. Budges can show their love and appreciation of their owners which in return is supposed to be a very strong confidence booster to a kid, especially since a bird’s trust must be won and will not be given blindly to just anyone.

Learning about responsibility - experiencing kind and caring attitude towards animals - practicing patience, empathy and nurturing skills - are all the arguments which convinced us to get the budges.
The kids did not mention any downsides in their presentation so I guess there is none ? (:(
