2009.07.04. - Riga

Laura & Lutz in Canberra, Australia

We were honored to "re-celebrate" their wedding with many other guests in Riga, Latvia over the weekend.

It was the first time Annie flew - and she could do so 4 times right away since we had to change planes in Prague in both directions.

Although the clouds looked beautiful from above, she also had time for books.

We arrived early enough to take our first walk around the old town of Riga before the Party.

Our Hotel - Reval Elizabete was centrally located and furnished in the latest modern style. Just crossing the street took us into the central parks (with a live concert on Saturday) of the town, including the National Opera, a creek to row on and leading to the Downtown walking area.

These are some of the images we liked most:

And then it was time to celebrate.

Thanks to the many good friends Laura made over the years through her kindness and generousity, they ensured an extraordinary location and content for her in return.

The reception was given at the National Opera of Riga.

And before our festive dining started, we were invited to a private concert by musisians and opera singers of world class!

Shortly after dinner the kids were offered games by a professional care-taker, Leanna.

Annie's favourite game included eating chocolate with fork & knife
- if she managed to put on a hat, scarf and gloves and get to the eating part before anyone else threw a 6 on the dice. In that moment it was the next person's turn.

Next morning breakfast brought a big surprise for Annie - she found a crispy bacon which took the shape of an A - a sign that it was made for her to eat!

Laura's and Lutz's party was a grand celebration with love and respect radiating from family & friends throughout the whole event.
We were thrilled to be part of it and will carry on the memories for the years to come.

While Annie, Julia & I were in Riga, Daniel stayed with Dad and had a boys' weekend at home following some boy scout and other responsibilities. They also treated themselves to a Mexican dinner and a Cuban lunch, thus avoiding the need to wash the dishes!
