Starting at my first Mini-Triathlon in Bad Homburg.
0.2 k swimming

12 k biking
3 k running
And because I got to enjoy regular sports lately again, I was happy to have this main event on Mothers' Day !

But the swimming took my breath away quicker than anticipated.
Start at 12:10.

I tried to calm myself that it was OK to be beaten by people who are better trained in one or the other discipline but my muscles still stiffened more than they should have and I had suddenly less air than I should have!
I was the 4th out of the swimming pool in our group of about 40.

Since we had a warm sunny day, I decided before swimming to leave my swimsuit on. Therefore the dressing went really fast. I could even allow myself time to put socks on.
I just had to curse once when the start number pinned to the back of my shirt got stuck rolled up on my back but gave way when I pulled on it hard.

Buying a sport shirt with a long zip in the front, enough room to get your head through easily and fast even when you are all wet was one of my best ideas before the race!
Was time to get on the bike.
And on to the bike track.
The right and upper part of the red track on the map was basically hill up.
The left and downer part rolling down.
This is when most of the men behind me took over - no matter up or down, they were simply stronger and prepared to take more risks on the way down.
Still, I could catch my breath again a little and due to the 3 laps we had to complete, caught up with some other groups who started before me.
Psychologically, taking over makes you stronger - at least it does it to me - so on the bike I had some fun and easy ride too. Maybe also due to the fact that my training track by Ruppertshain was very similar to the race track.

I was not really looking forward to the last part but it needed to be done.
This track was easier than the one I used for training. 3 km flat. Although I suffered a little but others around me even more. Many were really slow or needed a walk to take a short break.
The people in general were very nice, cheered each other and it seemed that for most of them finishing and not racing was the main goal.

Crossed the finish line at 13:08:33
That means I needed 58 min 33 sec.
Oh yes, I will definitely do it again.
Next time better prepared and hopefully with less time needed for completion.
Did I mention how lucky the event organisers and mostly us the participants get ?
It was raining hard the day before and it was raining hard the day after the race, temperatures dropping to 12C during the following days.

They even treated me to a very fine restaurant at the Opel Zoo.
The Lodge.

This must have taken some serious planning, consultation and organisation which I assume Daniel and Annie carried out at the race (:)

But they got the family together at a great location, for a great meal.
Never had a greater, more fulfilling Mothers' Day before !
Thanks.
